History of the Old Settlers Reunion

The Reunion was first held in 1877 and, with few exceptions, has been an annual event since then.  In 1932 and 1950, the Reunion was rained out.  Records are missing for some years, so we do not know whether a Reunion was held during those years.

Over the years, there have been many types of activities at the Reunion, including speeches, sermons, music, dance groups, baby contests, bingo, a greased pole climbing contest, frog jumping, a bike
race (in 1894) and a balloon ascension (in 1895). One of the most consistent events is the Pioneer Program, honoring the long-term and older citizens of Brown County. The current Pioneer Program also honors the youngest boy and girl who attend the Reunion.
